From an early age, I studied ballet and was a dancer with the Cleveland Civic Ballet Company. My poetry has appeared in over 75 literary journals. I write the Leigh Girard mystery series set in Door County, Wisconsin. Kirkus Reviews described the second book in the series, Death's Door, as "fast-paced and literate, with a strong protagonist and a puzzle that keeps you guessing." My first stand-alone mystery, The Lost Artist (2012), is a quest novel and centers around the search for one of the greatest lost art treasure of sixteenth century America. Homeless, In My Own Words: True stories of homeless mothers was just published through Amazon Kindle. In 1989 I spent a year interviewing homeless mothers in the Chicago area and many years writing the book. Each woman's story is told in her own words and in a series of poetic monologues. Graphic, honest, and gut wrenching--these stories shed light on a segment of the homeless seldom seen or heard.

What's in it for me?:
Dancing taught me discipline and the importance of timing and gave me a sense of aesthetics. My writing was strongly influenced by dance. I approach my writing in the same way I approached dancing. Only instead of filling space with steps, I fill space with words. Words to me are like musical notes.
What's in it for you?:
My love for poetry and writing in general inspired me to seek an advanced degree in English with a specialization in creative writing. I not only enjoy writing but teaching others how to write.
